It is obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of RNA, which is an essential molecule for our body. A nucleotide is the basic building block of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) that contain genetic information. Nucleic acids are important in transcription processes and in energy transfer. The first one is involved in protein production while the energy transfer is possible thanks to the energy derived by ATP hydrolysis. A nucleotide consists of a sugar molecule (either ribose in RNA or deoxyribose in DNA) attached to a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base.

Integration of nucleotides with the diet is a must. Some human cells, such as intestinal or brain cells, require a high demand of nucleotides to ensure their functionality. Since they are not being able to satisfy this need independently, it is necessary to integrate the nucleotides through the diet, using specific food supplements.

Ribocare® properties

Ribocare® contains five different nucleotides in the form of disodium salt, which are: 5′-IMP, 5′-GMP, 5′-CMP, 5′-AMP and 5′-UMP. These nucleotides have benefits for the immune system, the gastroenteric system, the nervous and the muscular one.

In the gastroenteric tract, they act as growth factors for intestinal cells, favoring their differentiation and maturation.  It results in an increased activity of digestive enzymes, a greater thickness of the villi and of the intestinal mucosa. Nucleotides are also used to improve the intestinal immune defenses and to promote the growth of bacteria such as Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, stabilizing the intestinal flora. In the brain, they help to improve memory and learning abilities thanks to the stimulation of glial cells, which are part of the nervous system. They even improve the cerebral vascular circulation and the lipid metabolism in brain cortex.
