The tablets of our production, once out of the compressing machine, can undergo a further tablet coating process.
In order to deal with this stage, we ensure that they reach appropriate hardness levels to avoid damage to the machinery. This involves adding a thin, uniform polymeric coating layer, which can bring several advantages, such as increased mechanical strength, protection from the external environment and easier swallowing.
We can offer different types of film-coating according to the customer’s requirements: coating the cores with natural colours, with gloss coating, or to provide gastroresistance. As a matter of fact, in terms of bioavailability, film-coating can play a fundamental role in modifying the release of the active ingredients without significantly affecting the weight and thickness of the product.
We are able to guarantee the coating process to the best of our ability thanks to the skilful use of the bassina machine: this guarantees a technologically advanced, easily controllable process that makes compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP) easy to govern.
The coating is applied to our substrate, the tablets are kept in continuous movement, through a nebulized solution or dispersion, consisting of the film-forming polymer and the necessary excipients.
We use the best materials and guarantee maximum flexibility in the choice of coating material to be used. Furthermore, during our tight controls, we make sure that the film is kept intact, and does not present imperfections due to, more commonly, mechanical shocks in packaging.
The colour is chosen during the design phase in agreement with the customer and, once the coating phase is finished, we obtain a tablet with a pleasant smooth and homogeneous appearance.
In addition, our tablet film coating minimises the risk of cross-contamination by reducing the dispersion of the compressed powders in the various production and packaging machines.
